Hellenic And Cypriot Society
Greek traditional dance classes
Dancing is a number of things for different people. It's an exhilarating and incredibly fun group activity, great exercise for the body and one of the most expressive art forms. Hellenic/Cypriot dancing however is much more than that. It puts you in direct contact with a unique culture that has expressed itself with these same dances through the centuries; a culture in which there is a song and a dance for every occasion.
The dances are instructed by our sport officer who is also teaching Hellenic/Cypriot dances for the Anglo Hellenic Society of Portsmouth City. The classes will start at beginner’s level. The focal point of the sessions will involve dances from all over Hellas and Cyprus. The classes are for beginners and all levels as the best dancers will be chosen to be part at the Hellenic and Cypriot Society dancers’ team, and dance in different events in Hampshire.
The Hellenic/Cypriot dance classes, start on Tuesday 13/11 and will take place every second Tuesday for 2 hours (19:30-21:30). The classes are free of charge for the members and a donation to the society for the non-members.
