ELECTIONS
a) Election dates
1. Elections are held at or after the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which take place in mid-October. The new committee assumes its responsibilities immediately after the elections.
2. If members are not elected for all Committee positions, then elections for the remaining positions are held during the begging of second semester.
b) Procedures
1. Those wishing to stand for any of the Committee positions should have been members of the Society for at least one term and should be students of the University of Portsmouth.
2. Elections for each position in the Committee will be held individually and consecutively. Hence, each individual may stand for more than one position.
3. Voting is to take place by secret ballot.
4. In case of early elections, due to the resignation of the Committee or for any other serious reason, the Committee that emerges acts as the interim governing body of the Society and is responsible for calling the official elections.
MEETINGS
1. General Meetings of the Society may take place at any time during term. Several meetings take place throughout the year, in order to discuss matters such as parties, trips etc. and to facilitate communication between members.
2. Normally, two Formal General Meetings of all Society members are arranged every year. One to be held in the first semester and the second meeting should be held in the second semester. The Secretary shall give at least one and preferably two weeks notice of such a meeting and the business to be discussed. The meeting should be attended by at least one third of the membership.
