Hellenic And Cypriot Society
The aims and objectives of the society are:
- To promote cultural and social understanding of the Hellenic/Cypriot culture and customs within the students’ Union.
- To organise events (meetings, seminars, competitions, barbecues, parties, trips and other educational and social activities), and to increase the knowledge of the Hellenic/Cypriot culture among students.
- To welcome our students to the University of Portsmouth.
- To provide help and moral support for Hellenic/Cypriot students, especially newcomers, to deal with any kind of difficulties potentially faced in their early steps in Portsmouth.
- To provide academic help (information about financial support - DFEE and student loans, past papers, and any other problems) to the members of our society.
- To represent students to any festivity concerning student life and Hellenic/Cypriot issues (embassies, student representation council).
- To practice the Greek language on a regular basis, outside the academic environment.
- To provide a notional forum through events and meetings under which these students can meet each other.
- To create a network between ours Hellenic and Cypriot Society and other Greek and Cypriot origin University societies across the UK.
