Hellenic And Cypriot Society

Memberships

Traditionally, registration is taking place during each year's Freshers' fayre, which takes place the beginning of October at the Students' Union. Of course, you can register with the society at any time, should you miss the Freshers' fayre, or don't want to wait until then, by contacting the Society, or any member of the committee. Memberships are available to all the members (students and staff) of the University of Portsmouth; you do not need to be Hellenic/Cypriot to join!

The membership fee to join the society is £5 for a year. All the money is going in to the University founds from which £3 are covering insurance, room bookings, general and publicity support from the Union; and the other £2 for the society in order to start the activities, because the university doesn’t give any funding to the societies for the first year.

The society is a non-profitable group and will remain like that. Any money coming to the society is spent on bookings and other expenses for the trips, fairs, parties, barbeques, competitions, sport events, etc. All the money from the events is going direct in to the University Finance Team and then they give the money direct to the responsible persons.

You can either join the Hellenic and Cypriot Society in one of our events, or you can go at the Union and ask to become member to the Hellenic and Cypriot Society.
In case you do not want to become a member but you still want to receive information about our events, you can just join our e-mailing lists.

All members receive a member ID. Members also are automatically subscribed to the Hellenic and Cypriot Society mailing list and website via which they receive email messages regarding all of the Society's activities, news etc. Last, but not least (let's not forget where we come from, people!). The members of the Hellenic and Cypriot Society will have free access or up to 70% discount in all of our events (depends on the event) and discount in specific shops (local and online).
